Probiotics
Probiotics are living microorganisms that
provide many health benefits when ingested.
They are mostly bacteria, but some
types of yeasts can also function as probiotics.
You can get probiotics by
foods or supplements.
Probiotic foods include yoghurt, kefir (a type
of strain or Kefir grains that cultured milk), lassi (chati ki lassi)
sauerkraut (karam kulah achar, band gobi ka achar), achar, tempeh and kimchi.
Dozens of different probiotic bacteria offer health benefits.
The most common groups include Lactobacillus
and Bifidobacterium. Each group comprises different species, and each species
has many strains. Different probiotics address different health conditions.
Some supplements are known as broad-spectrum probiotics or multi-probiotics
combine different species in the same product.

Difference |
These are live bacteria found in
certain foods or supplements. They can provide numerous health benefits.
There are also many probiotic
foods that naturally contain helpful bacteria, such as yoghurt.
A high-quality, plain yoghurt with live
cultures can be a fantastic choice.
Fermented foods are another great
option, as they contain beneficial bacteria that thrive on the naturally
occurring sugar or fiber in the food.
|
These substances come from types of
carbs (mostly fiber) that humans can't digest. The beneficial bacteria in
your gut eats this fiber.
Prebiotics are types of fiber found in
vegetables, fruits and legumes.
These types of fiber are not digestible
by humans, but your good gut bacteria can digest them

Some of those foods can also be
considered synbiotic, because they contain both beneficial bacteria and a prebiotic source of fibre for the bacteria to feed on. One example of a
synbiotic food is sauerkraut.
